“Medicine has always been my passion and Family Medicine in particular was a great draw with the development of relationships with patients over long term. Also, as a young medical student, I was fascinated with the work of Dr. Andrew Weil, and helping the body to balance naturally. As I went through my own health issues, including thyroid cancer, I started searching for more answers as to why/ how I developed cancer. I wanted to know what I could do to heal and how to stay healthy throughout my life.”
This lead me to Integrative and functional medicine. I felt the earth move with this knowledge! It was the first time I could see the deep connections of my health. How to think of the body as an intimate conversation with many different systems working together. I began to realize that digestion and gut health were critical. I had issues with digestion for years, and I started to really examine my diet. I started to do testing to find my imbalances. There was a need to change my lifestyle habits, cut down on coffee, get more sleep to help heal my adrenals from years of stress of medical training, and practice. The results have been amazing.”
“I see Integrative and functional medicine as the opportunity for us to work together as a team finding the keys to your health story. Using the latest science, testing tools, diet and movement, I look forward to designing a personal approach for you to achieve your wellness goals. I believe strongly that we all have a quest in life and that being in your best health will help you strive in that direction. The possibilities are many, and I truly enjoy paving these paths with my patients.” – Dr. Mona Ezzat-Velinov
