JulioDr. Julio Ballestas is a board-certified psychiatrist who uses a holistic approach to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well being. He joined our team at Pacific Pearl La Jolla in 2018.

Dr. Ballestas will support you in achieving an active role in your recovery process and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He believes that by empowering you with the knowledge and wisdom needed to reach your full potential, you can balance your life and attain lifelong wellness.

He obtained his Medical Degree at Universidad del Norte (Colombia), then completed his psychiatric training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and his Psychodynamic Psychotherapy training at New York Medical College. He received his Fellowship in Public & Community Psychiatry at Yale University, where he currently holds a faculty position as an associate professor.

Dr. Ballestas is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and is board certified in both specialties. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (AIHM), a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), a member of the American Psychiatric Association and a leader of the APA Hispanic caucus.

Dr. Ballestas is bilingual and is available to provide services in both English and Spanish. He serves patients age 20 and older.
