Rare Prolotherapy and Platelet Rich Plasma Injection Side Effects

In rare circumstances, patients undergoing prolo or PRP joint injections may experience:

Allergic reaction to the solution or topical anesthesia
Stiffness and pain at the injection site, may last up to 3-4 days or more
Bleeding, bruising and/or infection at the infection site
Post-therapeutic tendinosis pain flare or muscle spasm
Injury to a nerve and/or muscle as with any type of injection
Itching and swelling at the injection site(s)
Minimal or no effect from the treatment
